In a room of nothingness, he felt nothing. It was the best sensation he had ever had…to feel no worry, no pain, just nothing at all. Maybe he had made it to heaven, clearly he was in a dream, or another state of mind or existence. Logic had no reason in this strange, colorless place. He just was and that was all he’d ever wanted to be.
He’d only ever wanted to be alone but being alone had always been his downfall, it was when the darkness crept up on him and no one was there to pull it back that he was at his worse. Being alone was a blessing and a curse. This place of nothingness was his heaven even if this was meant to be his hell. In this place all he had was his mind to keep him company, to battle him, and he welcomed the invitation to confront himself.
He was imperfect and his mind was full of things no one would ever understand and that was what had separated him from everyone else in his life. When he tried to picture the faces of the people in his life, his mind went as blank as the white walls surrounding him. Something flickered inside of him, something he didn’t understand.
He was starting to feel things now, frustration, wonderment, and even a small flicker of trepidation. He couldn’t stay here, the something was trying to tell him, he couldn’t even if he wanted to. This wasn’t where he was meant to be.
“Help me….” He pleaded, his hands grasping at the empty wall under his hands. His voice was echoed back to him and the desolate hopelessness was evident in the words filing back to him and it only served to shred the last bit of faith he had been clinging to. There was no way out of this place and the something wasn’t strong enough to help him out.
He tilted his head to stare at the white luminous sky he would never be able to reach. He would be stuck in this room without the comfort of a blank mind and a body devoid of emotions because now he had a yearning for the something that was retreating from him, leaving him alone once more. He would sit and look up into the white sky he longed to touch, his only way of escape. He would ache for a way to detach himself from this place for eternity.
